Two things I have asked of You; Do not deny them to me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me; Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion. So that I will not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or that I will not be poor and steal, And so profane the name of my God. Proverbs 30:7-9 The Holy Bible Amplified Version
I have been on both sides of this coin.
One time I was on hard times. You could not beg borrow or steal a job and my saving ran out. I went to the government for help but they were useless like usual. Because I could not pay my hydro there was no heat in the house in the dead of the winter ( it was warmer outside that it was inside that house) and the only food I had was when I walked up and down the ditch to collect pop bottles and beer bottles to get enough money for a loaf of bread and jar of peanut butter. That was my food for the week. In my suffering the devil came a knocking. He suggested I rob a bank to get money for food. I was seriously considering it then called out to Jehovah to take my life before I dishounoured Him. This went on every day for a month in one of the coldest bitterest winters on record at that time. Just as I was about to tie a noose a man came to the house that had hear about my plight. He not only paid all my bills, made sure the cupboards were full but put a fire under the lazy butts of the useless government workers and I received about four months back pay for unemployment insurance they kept form me for no other reason than they were lazy and incompetent.
On the other side of the coin about a decade after this I had a high paying job ( which the Americans walked in bought the company out and shut it down leaving over two hundred people without a job, including me). I lived in a nice apartment with good food in my belly. Even though I had this I stayed loyal unto Jehovah by serving Him as a volunteer at the local hospital and on a clean up crew for the local trails. Many times the tempter came a calling mocking me for my service and saying I should just take it easy and enjoy life.
Now, I live the best life, neither rich nor poor financially but am dependent upon Jehovah every day for my needs and He never lets me down.
Prayer: Thank you Jehovah Jireh (God is our Provider) for always providing just the right measure of everything necessary in my life every day. I thank you in the name of He who abundantly provided for the five thousand Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the gentle assurance of Jesus’ sweet love encompass you today and every day.
