Be on Your Guard.

“Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Luke 12:15 New International Version

I have been on both side of the coin.

There have been times when I have had a lot and there have been times I have had a little.

It was when I had a lot that I kept on desiring more and more yet my life felt unfulfilled. There were times when I had little but that is when I was closest to Jehovah and felt great contentment.

My personal believe is that covetousness is like a vampire that sucks the life blood from you.

Oh you see these con artists on TV trying to convince you that if you have this big house, expensive car or go on this fabulous vacation on your dreams will come true and your life will be filled with happiness.

How many have gone on those expensive vacations only to get Montezuma’s revenge (diarrhea ) or been struck with typhoons or get robbed or any other numerous disasters. Not only that but not only do you have your problems when you return home but now you have debt as well.

It is the same thing with those houses and vehicles. Yes we all need somewhere to live but does it have to be like a mansion?

Yes we all need some form of transportation but does it have to be an expensive car?

Who are you trying to impress?

I prefer to impress Jehovah with my love for Him and my obedience to Him. I never have to worry about where to sleep, what to wear or what to eat..

Prayer: Thank you Jehovah Jireh (God our provider) for always generously supplying my daily needs in the physical realm and for blessing me with the richest treasure of them all An abundant love affair with You. I exalt You in the name of the one whom I cherish so dearly Jesus Christ. Amen

How is Your Rainmaking?

Whoever falsely boasts of giving Is like clouds and wind without rain Proverbs 25: 14 New King James Version                                                                                                   

Do you like to exaggerate?                                                                                                          

No I am not referring to catching a whopper on your last fishing trip.                                       

How about your resume for a school or job though? Do you stretch the facts a little? How about online dating sites?                                                                                                    

It will catch up to you. Have you ever seen those cute little puffy clouds in the sky?         

They are useless to a farmer who needs rain as those could give none.                                   

So too is your exaggeration useless and when found out you will look like a fool.                 

When I was in China teaching you could get a fake diploma off the street that looked as good as the real one. Once in a classroom these fakers were quickly found out and no one would help them. Believe me it was not worth it to fake the diploma for a job they were completely unqualified for.                                                                                                            

On the other hand when the truth is spoken gracefully it can and does bring refreshment to the soul like rain to the parched earth.                                                                             

So, how is your rainmaking?

Do Not Become a Polluted Well.

A righteous man who falters before the wicked Is like a murky spring and a polluted well. Proverbs 25: 26 New King James Version

Have you ever been put on the spot to risk losing it all because you have to take a stand.

The consequences are very high.

If you have and you gave in you became a murky spring. A murky spring cannot be drank from. You will find others cannot drink from your wisdom or be helped by your compassion. The reason for this is that when you compromised your morals that grieved the Holy Spirit and He will depart from you until you repent.

A polluted well cannot be drank from either. |If you continue your ways your thinking will become polluted and you will lead many astray.

The longer this continues the worse your condition becomes until you have completely become estranged form Jehovah.

Prayer: Please Jehovah Yeshua (God our rescuer) I sincerely request that you bless me with the fortitude to never surrender, no matter how high the cost, the morals my mentor (the Holy Spirit) has instilled in me. I meekly request this in the name of He who never compromised His high morals Jesus Christ. Amen.

Why Worry About the Grounded?

 

A curse without cause shall not alight. Proverbs 26: 14 New King James Version

Have you ever been threatened, especisally by a bully?

Why worry about it if there is no meat to their threats?

This is why it is important to know the law.

So many times employers have threatened to fire me without just cause. I just laugh and say thank you. Because you are firing me without just cause I will sue your but off and you will lose everything, your house, your car, your bank account, everything. They are shocked and back pedal quickly.

It is the same thing with the government.

I strongly suggest those in the western world to download a copy of United Nations Universal Declaration of Indiviatual Rights and Freedoms of the Individual Citizen and the United Nations Covenant of Social and Economic Rights and read it. You may be shocked at just what your rights are and how the government is abusing them. Keep a copy with you at all times.

As for bullies on the street, do not think they are strong. Actually they are very weak. Oh they may be strong physically but mentally they are weak and when I stand up to them they quickly leave me alone.   Brains over brawn is my motto and has been faithful to me in many dangerous situations.

So you see, those with unwarranted threats are like birds with cement feet, it is grounded and will never take flight

Now if someone is bullying you please take it to the authorities and get it in writing when you report it to them and keep your own copy.

Do not take the law into your own hands unless there is no other alternative (we ye do have the right to be vigilant of our rights but not to abuse them) .

Prayer: Please Jehovah Nissi (God who goes out before us and leads the way in battle) bless me with wisdom, grace and meekness (do not forget that meekness means keeping your temper under control) whenever I am confronted with a bully. Please bless me to handle them the same way Jesus did. I humbly request this in His wise name. Amen.

How to Put the Fire Out.

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out;And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. Proverbs 26: 18-19 New King James Version                                                                      

Have you ever met a Gossiping Gertie?                                                                                      

You know, they are the ones that when you tell them something and then leave, they burn up the telephone line telling anyone and everyone stupid enough to listen to them.

They love to cause fights. When confronted they always act innocent.                                           

They are as innocent as Lucifer himself.                                                                                    

They are like a wildfire that destroys everything in  their paths.                                            

How many friendships, careers and marriages have they wickedly destroyed?                       

Read in  The Apocalypse of Peter From “The Apocryphal New Testament” what their just rewards shall be.                                                                                            

Whenever I meet a Gossiping Gertie and they try to spread gossip to me I just ask them what they say when I am not there about me. They quickly leave me alone.    If you are a victim of a gossiping Gertie I always confront them in public with their gossip and gracefully and meekfully demand they prove their accusations. If they can not (which of course they can’t) I call them a liar to their face and inform them to keep their big noses out of my life. They hate me but leave me alone and there is a lot more peace in my life.

If you must have a conversation with one of these creatures (because they are family or you are at a meeting or other social function with them) I just keep the conversation generic. Talk about the weather or sports or something like that. In doing so, you are not giving them ammunition to use against you. Be polite and considerate with them.             

Prayer: Please Jehovah Jireh (God our provider) bless me with providing me with wisdom, grace and meekness whenever I encounter a Gossiping Gertie to both protect myself and to put out their fire of gossip about others. I humbly request this in the name of He who extinguished the fire of those who gossiped about Him Jesus Christ. Amen.

How are Your Teeth?

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint. Proverbs 25: 19 New King James Version

Have you ever suffered from an abscessed tooth?

I have and can tell you it is no picnic. You have a high temperature, you cannot eat nor sleep. The only way out is to have it pulled.

So too it is with the good times friends.

They will give you advice but usually on how to manipulate you into spending your money and time on them. They become Whining Willies and are like an abcess tooth that will not give you any rest.

Just as the abscess tooth is poison to the body and must be extracted so too must these Whining Willies be extracted from your life or they will poison your spiritual and mental health.

Have you ever pulled a muscle in your leg?

It is painful to walk or sleep.

So too with the Manipulating Maries.

They will take you away from Bible study just so you can drive them around. They will get you serving them through manipulation so bad that you cannot continue your walk with Christ.

Just as your leg needs a rest to heal so too does your mind and spirit need a rest from them. It is best to get them out of your life as fast as possible no matter how much they try to make you feel bad.

Prayer: Please Jehovah Ropheka (God my healer) abstract those from my life that are a drain on my walk with you and suck the life out of me. Then allow the best healer, the Holy Spirit to put salve on my wounds to heal my so I can continue to serve You. I humbly request this in the name of He who healed many of the sick when He walked amongst us Jesus Christ. Amen.

You Cannot Say It.

“He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ Remember the LORD your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.” Deuteronomy 8:17-18

I have met many who like to brag that they are self made men or women. Funny thing is that in the end the majority of them end their lives pennie less and going from living in a mansion to living on the streets.                                                                      

To say that we are self made is arrogant and rude to Jehovah.                                          

It is by Jehovahs grace that you have become successful and it is for a reason other than self serving. It is to use that wealth for His purposes.                                  

This does not refer just to finances.                                                                                                  

If you have been gifted with being an accomplished musician than use that talent to help underprivileged children. If you are a gifted painter use that talent to help give confidence to the underprivileged.                                                                                 

As well, yes use the money wisely to help the disadvantaged.                                              

That does not mean to foolishly give money to souls in these third world countries that breed like rabbits and expect us to support them because they are too lazy to work.                                                                                                                                      

The same goes for the welfare bums in the western countries that are too lazy to work but expect to receive hand outs like it is owed to them.                                       

Jehovah has blessed each and every one of us with a talent and it is our duty to prayfully request He send us where He wants us to be to do the work He has prepared for us to do with that talent.  Then to obediently obey Him.                             

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.1 Peter 4:10 New International Version                            

Prayer: Please Jehovah Elohim (God our creator) bless me with the wisdom to utilize the talent You have blessed me with in Your way and in the place You have prepared for me to humbly serve You. I submissively request this in the name of Your most talented son Jesus Christ. Amen.

If You Have a Difference With Anyone.

Accept life, and be most patient and tolerant with one another, always ready to forgive if you have a difference with anyone. Forgive as freely as the Lord has forgiven you. Colossians 3:13 J.B. Phillips New Testament                                                                     

Accept life.                                                                                                                                     

Yes it is unfair and many times there is nothing you can do about it.                                          

The best thing to do is to leave it in Jesus’ hands. Otherwise you will become angry and bitter. That will slowly destroy you and all those around you.                                                      

This is hard to do at first but with practice it becomes easier. That does not mean there will come a time when it is always easy.                                                                                

Patience is a virtue that is only gained with constant practice. Joseph -Anthony : Green I find as many get older their patience gets shorter. There is a difference of course with the ones who mature more and more in Christ as they age. They become more like our Beloved King. That does not mean you will never lose your patience. We all have our breaking point. Even Jesus did.                                                                                                       

I find the most intolerant are those who preach we should be more tolerant of them.                    Yes I am talking about the homosexuals who scream we should accept their lifestyle but they refuse to accept ours. It is the same with the Muslims who want to come to our country but refuse to accept our way of life. Yes I am referring to those who are not white and feel they can say and do anything to whitie but scream blue bloody murder when they have to try to stand on equal ground with us (anyone know what affirmative action is?)

There are times when we are not to tolerate unChrist like behaviour not matter what colour, nationality or religion. That said we are to be tolerant of others little nuances like someone who is slow at the check out at the grocery store.                                                        Forgive yes, forget no.                                                                                                              

Yes we are to forgive others as Christ has forgiven us. This is mostly for our own welfare.                                                                                                                           Hatred of the heart is like rust to a car, it starts out small but if you do not get rid of it fast it will destroy you. If we refuse to forgive than it slowly eats our soul away and we end up bitter, angry and with serious anger management problems. This is bad for society, bad for our relationships and bad for our health.                                                                                             

Now just because we forgive does not mean we are to forget.                                                

That does not mean we are to throw a past offence in somebody’s face with every disagreement.                                                                                                                               

What it does mean is that when someone abuses us we learn how to deal with the situation. Many times the best way to deal with it is with good Christian councilors. So if a girlfriend is a two timer we must forgive her but learn why we are attracted to those types of personalities so as to avoid the situation again.                                                             

No where do you see Jesus indicate that He tolerates destructive behavior.                       

Prayer: Please Jehovah Elohim (God our creator) create in my mind and in my heart a disposition like our beloved king Jesus so as to be a light unto others how to live a life that is acceptable unto you. I sincerely request this in the name of my greatest mentor Jesus Christ. Amen.

He Knows Our Thoughts.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 Authorized King James Version                                                                                             

 

Are you willing to allow Jehovah to search your thoughts?                                                     

 

What will He find you thinking about that girl or boy at school? What will He find you thinking about your coworkers? What will He find you thinking about your neighbours? Oooooh this list goes on huh.                                                                                                         

 

We all have wicked thoughts no matter how saintly we are.                                                       

 

The Christian thing to do is to always take every thought unto the great doctor (the Holy Spirit) and humbly, sincerely ask Him to remove them from you.                                             

 

My every morning prayer includes the stanza: “Guide my thoughts, words and deeds my Love so as to bring glory, honour and praise to You. And, to bring the little lost sheep to You.”                                                                                                                                     

 

When wicked thoughts come to me I instantly say:” Get lost Satan. I belong to Christ and He does not condone such filth in His holy servants.”                                                                       

 

Now mind you these are said many times through out the day sometimes but that is okay. We all have those days.                                                                                                                

 

The end result is a closer relationship with the big three (the trinity) and myself and it does become a part of me so yes it does become easier over time.                                         

 

Prayer: Please Jehovah Yeshua (God my rescuer) deliver me from the wicked ones snares of darkness that he sneakily tries to pollute my mind with every day. Guide my thoughts, words and deeds to bring glory, honour and praise to You and to bring the little lost sheep to You. Guide my words, thoughts and actions to be wise, meek and graceful. I humbly request this blessing in the name of He who always spoke with grace, wisdom and meekness Jesus Christ. Amen.

What is Humble and Gentle?

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2 New International Version.                                                                             

To be humble does not mean we are to allow ourselves to be societies doormats and allow them to walk all over us.                                                                                  

It also does not mean we are to belittle Jehovahs gifts to us (so say you have been blessed with great painting talents and someone compliments you on a piece of your artwork, instead of trying to say the work is not that good give credit to Jehovah for blessing you with this gift and share with others the commitment it take to be such a good painter).                                                                                                           

I know. I went through a time when others complimented my writing and I kept on giving credit to the Holy Spirit. Finally a Christian writer informed me that although it was obvious the Holy Spirit was directing my writing there was also some of me in the writing and that was a gift from God. To belittle that gift was an insult to Him. 

To be gentle is also a part of being patient.

 So, just as someone was gentle with us in teaching us to ride a bicycle so too are we to be gentle with those who are just beginning in their walk. That is for all aspects of life. Just think of the example you set when you encounter someone new at a job and you gently guide them into learning the ropes.  We are to bear each others burdens and sorrows so as to cement our Christian communities communion and to encourage others t join our holy family..                                                                    

Prayer: Please Jehovah Chanan (god is gracious) bless me with a gracious heart like Your most cherished son Jesus Christ. I meekly request this in His gracious name. .Amen.
