Christian Perfection (2)
It is true that we will never be perfect in this life, but the perfections outlined by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount are still those for which we should aim and that we should increasingly attain by God’s grace and the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
We are to aim at Christ-like character. Jesus said, “Therefore you are to be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).
How good must a person be to stay saved?
I am a sinner. Nothing I will do will ever be perfect. What can I do to be saved and to keep saved? Since self-efforts will not save us, we must receive the perfect righteousness that God has provided in the atoning substitutionary death of Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5:21).
Only the LORD God is perfect, and He works to perfect sinful man.
How does God work to perfect sinners? There are three Biblical facts we must keep clearly in mind.
1. We are sinners, and there is no denying that fact. Sin is an offense against God, and He cannot ignore it. Sin has to be dealt with completely according to His just standards. This is why God the Father sent God the Son to die for our sins. Jesus bore the penalty for our sins in full, and canceled all claims of God’s justice against the believing sinner forever. God punished our sins on the cross of Jesus. “By one sacrifice Christ has made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (Heb. 10:14). Have you believed on Jesus Christ as your Savior?
How perfect must a Christian be? The Christian believer must guide his life by the perfect, ethical standard of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “You are to be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt. 5:48).
2. The second principle we must keep in mind is that from the moment we believe on Jesus Christ as our Savior, God begins a work in us to perfect us in this life. At the new birth, we are given a perfect standing before God in one sense, but it is also true that we are far from perfect in our daily life.
The apostle Paul distinguishes between two ways the word “perfect” is used in the New Testament. In Philippians 3:12 he writes, “Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12). Paul has in mind here absolute perfection – God’s perfect standard, absolute spiritual maturity, fully-grown just like Jesus Christ. It is the same idea that Jesus Christ spoke of in Matt. 5:48, “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).
In the next sentence Paul tells us that even though he has already been declared acquitted before God on the basis of his faith in the atoning sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, he is still in the need of practical daily work of being perfected in Jesus Christ. “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained” (Philippians 3:13-16).
“Perfect” in verse fifteen is a relative, spiritual maturity, indicating the stages of growth, hence, perfect in growth at certain stages. Even as an elderly Christian, Paul had not arrived to sinless perfection, but he did not give up, and make excuses for sins. All of his guilt is covered by the payment of Christ on the cross. The penalty has been removed, but God is still at work in his daily practice of holiness. Paul is not getting better and better so that one day he can say he is without sin in his daily life. God has provided for us in His saving grace a provision for cleansing of sin and restoration of fellowship in the Christian’s life (I John 1:8).
3. Our ultimate sanctification or what the Bible calls glorification will take place when we are presented perfect just like Jesus Christ, and it will take place in the moment of our death. God’s work of perfecting the saints will take place when we see Jesus in glory and not before then. At that moment we will be presented to God the Father sinless and complete (1 John 3:1-3). We never know that perfection in this life. We will in the likeness of Christ be pure and holy in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, wisdom, humility, obedience, etc.
What God began in your new birth, He will continue to work on throughout this life until He has perfected us and presents us perfect to the Father. What God begins, He always finishes (Phil. 1:6; Rom. 8:24-29). God will not give up on any born again believer. He will keep on perfecting us until the day when Christ comes for us.
May you have a grateful heart towards He who has given so much to you.

What I Thought Was
So many times in my life what I thought was an annoyance was a detour to better circumstances. Joseph- Anthony a son of Jehovah
Who Would Want to Change That?
Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives Deuteronomy 5:33 The Holy Bible, The New Living Translation
I would not change a thing if I could do my life over again.
Everything was for my benefit both the good and the bad.
The bad helped me mature while drawing closer to Christ.
The good was fellowship with Christ.
Who would want to change that? Joseph- Anthony a son of Jehovah

Accepted in the Beloved
There is always the tension in the Christian life between the “now” and the “yet to be.” However, what we are now in the eyes of God is what we shall be in practice when we stand before Him in complete, perfect sanctification in glory.
Even now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1). He has made us acceptable in the Beloved (Eph. 1:6). Indeed, we are complete in Him (Col. 2:10).
How do we explain this tension in our daily lives between our practical sanctification and our eternal position and standing before God?
The believer’s positional standing before God never ever changes. No believer is less justified than another. You are either acquitted by God or you stand condemned. You are either a child of God by adoption or you are an enemy. You either have eternal life, or you are dead in trespasses and sins.
Our standing before God, once we are His child, does not change. Our sonship does not depend upon our fellowship with Him. It is the other way around. Our fellowship with God depends upon our sonship.
There are degrees in our fellowship, but there can be none in our justification before God. Sometimes we are warm and sometimes we are cold in our fellowship, but our sonship never changes since we were adopted as His children.
Our justification is entirely above the fluctuations of Christian experience. It knows nothing of degrees or the rise and fall of our emotions. You are either justified by faith or you are condemned. We are “in Christ” and He is “the same, yesterday, today and forever.”
Christ alone is our righteousness and results in our right relationship with God. Christ is of God “made unto us righteousness.”
If a right standing depended upon our faith or our faithfulness we would be eternally condemned. It depends upon Christ’s righteousness accepted as His gift by faith. It does not depend upon our endeavors, but upon the finished work of Christ. “You are complete in Christ.”
How can this be true? We know ourselves all too well. We are imperfect and we fail. Yet God’s word says that we are complete in Christ.
Regarding the Christian’s acceptance and standing before a righteous God is concerned, God sees nothing from His throne but Christ Jesus alone and Him crucified. And since the believer is in Him and one with Him, he shares Christ’s place in the Father’s heart. No matter how unworthy the believer is in himself, he may know without a doubt that he is “accepted in the Beloved.”
You cannot be condemned if you are in Christ. Christ is without sin and for us to be in Christ means to be accepted in the Beloved.
Jesus Christ presents us to the Father clothed in the garments of His own righteousness.
Jesus represents us to God. We see God in Christ. God sees us in Christ. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. We in Christ are reconciled to God.
The Christian can never pray, “O Lord, look how pure and holy I am; look at me and preserve my soul, for I am holy.” That would be utter nonsense. We can only come into His presence and with humble gratitude accept His grace saying, “Lord, be merciful to me the sinner.”
Moreover, the steadfastness of our joy and the stability of our spiritual growth depends upon our keeping our gaze fixed immovably upon the one Blessed Object upon which the Father’s gaze is always fixed (Heb. 12:2).Selah!

He Would Comfort Me With
I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. Hebrews 13:5 The Holy Bible, The New Living Translation
This promise has brought light to my darkest days.
When I was planting trees, the camps were like Sodom and Gomorrah a lot of sex, drugs and booze. Their morals fit the description as well. That is why I camped outside of it. So many times there was such an overpowering feeling of loneliness and as if it was the world against me. Upon praying to my Beloved, He would comfort me with this verse.
The same was true in China where morals were considered stupid and for fools. This was true not just with most Chinese but with the majority of foreign teachers as well.
Then, there was the crucifixion. That is where whatever or whomever you love must have that love crucified. That does not mean you do not love them anymore ( although it may ) it means you do not put them above Christ. It was my most painful experience and it was when Christ softly whispered this verse in my ear that there was strength to carry on.
No matter what you are going through our loving strong Christ is walking through it with you. Joseph a son of Jehovah
Prayer: Thank you Jesus Pyyrand (Jesus my best friend John 15:15 ) that You are the truest friend ever. You are always by my side through thick and thin. Through the sunshine and through the storms. I exalt You in Your loving name. Amen.
May you take comfort and gain strength that Christ is with you always.

No One can Hurt Your
No one can hurt your feelings without your consent. No one can make you angry, disappointed, intimidated, or jealous.
Substitute any reactive emotion with the wisdom, strength and self control of The Holy Spirit. Whatever it is, no one can afflict you with it without your consent.
You can choose to see things differently when you depend upon The Holy Spirit to open your eyes to Jehovahs meaning instead of societies or your own faulty reasoning. It’s the only one you’ll ever need.
The people we interact with become how we treat them, more than we’d like to admit. That is why wicked company corrupts godly souls while godly souls mould us more into Christs character.
