Following Christ always comes at a cost. Many times it means being rejected by your family.

 

 

That hurts, believe me I know.

 

Many times following Christ will mean sacrificing your house to travel abroad or to another city to serve in difficult circumstances.

 

I know, I sacrificed leaving the comfort of country to travel to a country where I did not know the language and lived under very difficult primitive circumstances.

 

Now this is why  I strongly do not believe in short term missions and here are the reasons why:

 

When I was teaching in China it took me six months before some students were interested in developing a relationship with Christ. Believe me they had many questions

 

If you are there only for a month or two even if they are interested who is going to teach them after you are gone?

 

 

Who is going to lay the foundation?

 

Two: If you go to a third world county and build some homes for poor people : the people do not know how to take care of them and in a year the house looks like a shanty shack, two the neighbours will become jealous which causes fights

 

Three many times they just want money or to improve their English skills. If you have an interpreter they tell the people what the government want to hear and not what you are telling them, you need to know the language and customs.

 

But your reward in return will be a crown presented to you by Christ in Heaven.

 

Prayer: Thank you Jehovah Adonai (God is sovereign) for the promised blessing of receiving a rich reward fro Your precious son upon my arrival in Heaven because of my sacrifice to You. I also thank you my love because in these trying circumstances it has brought me closer to You. I praise You in the name of He who left His father in His home to come to serve us Jesus Christ. The Effect of Righteousness, Quietness and Assurance.

The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. Isaiah 32:17 New King James Version

To find peace of mind you do not need to go to self help groups or read their books or most of todays psychiatry  (although there are some circumstances where it is necessary).

You need to find the quietness that only comes from the Prince of Peace.

It is the same thing with financial or relationships, His assurance is the best insurance you need.

There is a catch though.

You must live a righteous life.

The only way to succeed in this is to pray for the knowledge, strength and support of the Holy Spirit.

Then to be obedient to His will not yours.

Gives Us Power

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 New International Version

I was a biological alcoholic and tried everything from herbal medicine, hypnosis, diet and counseling to conquer this terrible disease. It was not until I fell on my knees and cried out to the Lord to rescue His child that it was conquered. It was not me that conquered it, it was the Holy Spirit.

It was not me but the Holy Spirit that blessed me with teaching me and strengthening me in how to develop a loving relationship with our Beloved and because of this become even more loving to others.

 

I would be terrible at starting projects and then abandoning them (usually because I believed I was a failure). It was the Holy Spirit that taught me and strengthened me to complete assignments Jesus had instructed me to do.

This is not a one off event.

This process must be repeated every day in every aspect of our lives.

Prayer: Thank you Holy Spirit Elohim (Holy Spirit our Creator) for Your amazing patience with this difficult student to create in me the child that Jehovah knew I was meant to be and for freeing me from the addictive chains that were dragging me into a living hell. I praise You in the name of He who You strengthened in His time of need before going to Calvary Jesus Christ. Amen.

Which Level Will You Be At?

“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.  But I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.  And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.  But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you.” Matthew 11:21-24 New King James Version

This is a clear statement by Christ that there are different levels of Hell.

If you have ever read The Apocalypse of Peter and the Book of Enoch you will see what awaits those who are cast into Hell.

It only makes sense.

Why would someone who just stole candy from a store serve the same sentence as someone who robbed a bank and killed someone?

Make no mistake about it, Hell is real and it is not a very nice place to go to. Once in there, there is no getting out and it is for an eternity.

The Fools Rejection.

Only a fool would reject an amazing life with Christ so do not be surprised when non-Christians reject you.

 

But do not allow it to upset you when they mock you, reject you and harass you. Just remember that you are precious to Jehovah.

And do not forget, as they rejected Jesus so too will they reject you.

The only thing you can do is sow the seed and then walk away.

They Holy Spirit will convict them.

If they refuse to listen to the Holy Spirit, they will not listen to you either.

It ain’t easy being a Christian.

You are going against the tide.

As such you can expect to experience a lot of ridicule, prejustice, and hostility including from your own family.

 

When I was in China many Chinese who became Christians were completely cut off from their families. If they went back home they were ridiculed, ostracized and even suffered violence by their own families. At school and work no one will even talk with them and they are constantly ridiculed. They had truly given up everything for Christ.

 

I wonder how many Christians in the west would suffer like that?

Oh boy do I know the truth in these statements.

There has been so many times I tried going my own way and it did nothing but lead me to disaster.

 

On the other hand, even though it is difficult, going Jehovahs way leads to success.

He has lead me where I did not know where I was going and quite frankly did not want to go but had faith in Him. He never let me down.

Hope here is assurance of something happening. In that context it means that we have holy assurance in our lives even when it seems as if all others are against us.

There have been many times when I was in extremely dangerous situations and thought it was the end for me. Terrified I prayed unto my Beloved.

Each and every time a feeling of calm enveloped me.

There have been many times of uncertainty (especially with lay offs at factories) when there was a feeling that there would be no money to pay the bills.

Each and every time a feeling of calm enveloped me. There were times when I was so sick it felt as if death was knocking on my door. Terrified I prayed unto my Beloved.

Each and every time a feeling of calm enveloped me.

These are all true. I can testify to the truth of the above verse.

A Wise Man Fears.

When we experience things like alcohols abuse, drug abuse, abusive relationships the next time we see them coming the wise run.

As well we listen and learn from those who have gone down the path before us.

The mantra of the fool is: I know, I know.” when they do not know anything. And even when they go through the experience they refuse to learn and return to it to their peril.

When disaster occurs they rage at you, at society and or at relatives. Anyone and or anything rather than admit it is their own fault.

Whenever I encounter a fool heading for disaster I try to warn them. If they rage at me that I know nothing and they know everything I just walk away. That is difficult when it is someone you care about but it is useless to try to help them because they insist upon returning to their stupid ways.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise. Proverbs 12:15 New King James Version
