The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold. Psalm 18:2 Holy Bible, Amplified Version
One time while camping in the desert the winds picked up so bad I had to cup my hands over my face or else I would have been smothered to death.
That is what it is like sometimes when the world comes howling at us with TV, movies, music and society all screaming that sin is good and righteousness is foolishness.
That is when we need the Holy Spirit to come and wrap Himself around us and assure us we are walking the right walk.
In the morning there was huge red butes that when the sun rose they looked like giant fingers slowly moving to clamp onto my and squeeze me to death (or so it seemed).
So too can it seem as if there are pressures from the world to conform to their wickedness or they will destroy us in rage.
That is when we need the Holy Spirit to come plants the sweetness of Christs love for us with in our hearts and bloom like the most beautiful flower with in us.
One time while hiking along a trail by the ocean I decided to climb into a cave in a huge rock. Little did I realize that the high tide came all half way up that rock. That night a storm broke out and the waves reached the lip of the cave but never entered in.
So too is Christ there for us to take shelter in during the storms in our lives.
You will never find Jesus so precious as when the world is one vast howling wilderness. Then he is like a rose blooming in the midst of the desolation, a rock rising above the storm.” — Robert Murray M’Cheyne
Prayer: Thank you Jehovah Sel’i (The Lord is my Rock) for blessing me with Your firm foundation and sanctuary during the raging storms in my life. Thank you that through this my faith and gratitude for You has blossomed into a beautiful creation of which You are well pleased. I praise You in the name of the most beautiful gardener of all Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the gentle assurance of Jesus’ sweet love encompass you today and every day.
