The Best In Crowd There Is

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13 Holy Bible, New Living Translation

Being a recent ex smoker it seems as if temptation comes numerous times a day every day. They are ever so subtle but annoying. By Gods grace Bible verses that are memorized are recited and the temptation vanishes.

That is easy but then there is the group tempters. This is when you are tempted to do something wrong just to fit in with the “in crowd”. Trust me, after seeing the “in crowd’ forty years later it is best to avoid these losers at all cost.

That is why it is best to be with the best in crowd there is, the Christian in crowd.

To the world we look like geeks but then again we do not suffer from overdoses or getting shot at or sexual diseases. Sounds like a fun crowd huh?

Then there is the employment climber. That is where a employer tries to get you to do something unethical. Trust me I have seen what happens when the gig is up the one at the bottom of the ladder is usually the one taking the fall. It is not worth it.

The devil will always tempt you but stand firm in Christ by reading the Bible and memorizing victory verses. Have continual communion with Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit so that you are sensitive to their voice. Have a few close brothers and sisters that will be there to encourage you and support you .

“Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell.” Author Unknown

Prayer: Thank you Jehovah M’Kaddesh (The Lord is my Sanctifier) for blessing me with integrity so as to be sanctified unto Your Holy manner in which to conduct myself. Doing this prevents much trouble in my life and enables me to be a child whose actions please You. I exalt You in the name of He whose actions shine brightly thousands of years later, Jesus Christ. Amen

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love fill your heart today and every day. Joseph a son of Jehovah

I am an unpaid live in care giver for my aged mother. As well I regularly do volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and with a local church group helping working poor establish themselves independently. . I love being in nature. I say the closer we get to nature the more we see Jehovah. We are blessed in this area with many amazing, easy to ride bicycle trails on old railroad lines that takes us all over Southern Ontario.

  1. I’m feeling you, my brother,
I used to be a smoker for more than 30 years until THE LORD delivered me.
This was 2 years ago and thank GOD I made it through, but temptation keeps coming back, especially in weak or stressful moments.
    THE LORD is our strength.
We will overcome this addiction devil once and for all and we will stay strong in THE LORD and be victorious in the end, in JESUS’ name.
    GOD bless you!

    • Good for you precious sister. It has been almost a year for me and yes the urge still comes back.
But, by Jehovahs blessings, the Holy Spirit helps me through those times, especially the ones filled with stress.

  2. Oh my gosh this made me think how this was difficult but removed someone from my life. Well yesterday I got a text from a random number and recognized enough of the number to know who it was. I initially completely panicked but even knowing it was for nothing… but still panicked. I never responded and have no desire to and that made me realize how much closer my relationship with Jesus has gotten and was so comforted.

Like one of my favorite people has been saying “I’m just going to keep walking.”

This made me laugh and had to share. Don’t go back to what God delivered you from. No matter how “innocent”.

    • Good girl.
If you go back it will always we worse because you know you do not belong there and have just sacrificed the most special love affair there is (between you and Jehovah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit).

  3. I like the term, “victory verses”! I will have to borrow it. 👍🏾

    • Please feel free.
Ingraining them in the mind does wonders.
How is the job hunting going?

      • Thank you! I am actually out of town for an interview. It takes place all day tomorrow. I will be sure to keep you posted.

How are things going with you and your mom and the rowdy neighbors?

      • I am still praying for you every morning.

The Lord has said He has had enough. Now He encourages me with the proper words to be firm with them all.

Now, the neighbours keep their mouths shut and their bodies away from me. It helps that the police had a little talk with them and informed them of their strong displeasure of their attitude and behavior and how it had better stop. They drive by all the time and if they even think there is going to be trouble there are a few cruisers that show up promptly.

As for mom, she had me moving furniture by myself when she knew I needed help. It left me crippled for two weeks. Folks at her church were not happy about that nor were the folks at the seniors center she is a member of. and they let her know it. The Lord has advised me to just step back. I do not do any house work anymore. It cripples her and she is in a lot of pain afterwards when she cleans the house. If there is any work she wants done I tell her to get her other son and or her granddaughter and her family down here to do it. She has given them enough money and they have done nothing for it. Yesterday they came down and did some work for her.

My crops are great now. I have bushels of harvest that I share with others. The Lord has blessed me to bless others.

One day I was riding down a trail and saw a farmer working in his field. I went and helped him. As we were talking we discovered we went to school together. After the work was done I asked him if I could have the potatoes left in his field after his harvester went through which he graciously agreed to. I carried about five bushels of them in my bicycle trailer home (it took me a week of carrying one bushel at a time) . These are a new type of potato that is grown just for diabetics. Of course they have been shared with others. They taste great. It is the first time they have been grown in Canada.

      • Thank you for your prayers! What a joy and privilege it is for us to ptay for one another. 🙏🏾

I had no idea that yoo had endured such recent hardship, my friend! I will continue praying for the Lord’s ongoing peace, comfortc wisdom, and joy as you deal with such challenging circumstances. I commend you for setting and maintaining firm boundaries with the troublemakers — it’s the only way they will learn.

Glad to hear about your abundant harvest, and that other farmers are prospering, too. The news about the diabetic potatoes is especially exciting!

Wishing you the Lord’s best in all things, now and always. ✝️

      • Thank you precious sister for your prayers. Yes they are needed and appreciated. It is good we are a blessing to each other

The Lord blesses us with abundant harvest so that we may bless Him by sharing with those in need.

      • Amen, Joseph! I was just praying for you today. I am so grateful for you, dear friend! ✝️

      • Thank you precious sister for your prayers and for being grateful. I appreciate your friendship as well.

      • May your harvest continue to be plentiful (I pray the same for the farmers in your area, too).

      • Thank you.

The other day I was riding down a trail and noticed a farmer working in his field. I went out and was helping him. As we were talking we discovered we went to school together. He was gracious enough to allow me to pick up the potatoes left behind once the digger went through. I picked about ten bushels and shared them with the working poor and retired elders on a fixed income in our neighbourhood.

Today we went to a friends place and I picked half a bushel of plums and am sharing them as mentioned above.

We have a bountiful crop of tomatoes so as well as sharing them we are making soup for the winter.

Some farmers are having bumper crops while others are barely making it.

May you be blessed with employment where you may be of great service to our Heavenly King.

      • Thank you, Joseph, and I will continue praying for you and those near and dear to you as well. May the Lord continue to prosper all that you in His name! 🙏🏾

      • Thank you precious sister. I need those prayers.

Please pray that the church on Cedar Street gets a Christ centered pastor as the one there now is retiring at then end of this month and they do not have another one. Thank you.

      • Joseph, I will do that now. This is a very important time, as there are many more wolves dressed up in sheep’s clothing – especially in the church! 😔

      • That is very true. Which is why I earnestly pray every day.
Thank you for your prayers. They are much needed and appreciated.

      • I just realized that I missed part of one of your earlier comments — your reconnection with a former classmate from school. What a wonderful thing to have happened! Such a joy to hear that the crops continue to prosper, too.

Keep me posted on the church on Cedar Street (and any other prayer requests you have) as your schedule allows. 🙏🏾

      • Thank you.
Yes it was quite the event meeting an old classmate I have not seen in over forty years in his potato patch

      • It reminds me that the Lord has a sense of humor! You never know the surprising ways in which He will bring people from our past back into our lives.

As I may have mentioned here before, I rsn into a former college at church years ago — to my knowledge, was not even a Christian! I just turned around, and a few rows back, there he was. It was a joyful (and surprising) reunion. 🙂

      • I love the Poppa’s sense of humour.
How is the job search going?

      • Just catching up on my messages now. There’s been an interesting development on the job front. I was offered a position earlier this week, but then some information surfaced after the offer that has given me pause. We shall see how the Lord guides.

How are things going with you? I am still praying for you, your mom, your church, and your neighbors.

      • Thank you for your prayers.

Mom and I are getting along, they have not decided on the new pastor and the neighbors do not bother me because I carry a camera around with me and the police are constantly cruising the area.

I still pray for you every morning.

      • Thank you, joseph! Praise the Lord that you and your mother are getting along better. Also, sometime ago you had mentioned that she was showing some favoritism with money to your brother. Has that situation been resolved?

I will keep praying about all these matters. How are the crops coming along?

      • I think she has become fed up with them only calling when they want money so now she gives them nothing.
A few weeks ago she had me do a lot of heavy lifting by myself when it should have taken two folks to do it. I was crippled for about two weeks. After that Jehovah has told me to be firm with her and if she wants any work done around here she can call her eldest and or grand daughter. If that is not acceptable to her than shut up.
She has had a complete change of heart since then (it helps she had a stern talking to by her friends and church members).
I still take care of the garden and sometimes do the house work (she tries to get it done in the morning before I get in the house then lays on the couch and cry baby’s how she is in so much pain).

How is the job search going?

      • That is an answer to prayer for sure! I have been praying that the Holy Spirit will convict your mother to exercise better stewardship over the financial resources that He has given her. I’m glad to hear that she has seen the light at last!

I’m so sorry to hear that your body was so hurt after the work you did for your mother. That is not right. How are you feeling nowadays? You are being wise to sit and maintain firm boundaries with her.

I should have an update on the work situation soon. As is the custom of spiritual warfare, when the Lord moves in a powerful way of blessing, the enemy steps in shortly thereafter to try to mess things up. I should have more information to share by tomorrow sometime. Thank you for asking.

      • I rested for two weeks and am better now.
I do volunteer work one day a week helping move furniture for folks that do not want it to give to low income folks. You would be shocked at the antique furniture that was given away because nobody wants to buy it anymore. We are talking pure maple dressers and pure oak tables. It was shocking.
I am still praying for you.

      • I am relieved to hear that you are better, Joseph! And yes, people do not know how to recognize true value anymore, do they? What you shared about the furniture is w metaphor for life, when you stop and think about it. Jesus is the oak and maple that people don’t want to keep around because He gets in the way of their plans and creature comforts.

      • I like your metaphor.

Thank you for your concern. Now Jesus has put His foot down with mom and she has had a change of attitude and behavior.

I have been busy this week. A farmer has just harvested is sweet potatoes (last week it was new kind of potato for diabetics) and any that are left in the field I can go and get for free. I have harvested four bushels and shared them with the working poor and those on limited pensions (as well as keeping a bushel for ourselves). Next week the farmers will be harvesting their pumpkins so it will be with the pumpkins. They sure do leave a lot in the field.

How is the job search going?
