Because He Is

And whoever gives to one of these little ones [these who are humble in rank or influence] even a cup of cold water to drink because he is my disciple, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42 The Holy Bible Amplified Version

Do you notice that Christ says “because He is my disciple.”

He is not saying to give it to anyone nor everyone.

So many use this verse as a stepping stone for evangelizing to the unsaved which is wrong.

We see these scam artists using this to con folks into giving them money so they can help the poor children in say Africa. They give pennies on the dollar while pigging out on luxurious salaries for themselves.

Indeed when you give to help those people you are doing more harm than good. Because they are getting free food they have no incentive to work or practice birth control. The local farmers suffer because no one will purchase their produce which drives them into bankruptcy.

Now we are to help wisely by helping them start their own business and supporting it. By working to convince them to use birth control and supplying it to them.

As well, those that give of their time and or money, believing they are serving Christ are wrong. As Christians it is our duty to share the Gospel first.

If the people are receptive then we help, if not then move on.

It may seem cruel but why waste your time and resources on those who are not interested in their spiritual life when those who are will not have their needs met.

I have seen this numerous times in many years of missionary work. The only reason the folks come to the Bible meetings is to receive free food with no intention of coming to Christ. They walk away laughing at the naive Christians.

Prayer: Please Jehovah Rohi ( Jesus is our Divine Shepherd ) bless this little sheep of Your that You guide me where my resources will be used providentially to expand Your kingdom and to help those whom You deem worthy of assistance.

I humbly request this in the name of He who helped the truly needy Jesus Christ. Amen

May the gentle assurance of Jesus’ sweet love encompass you today and every day. Joseph a son of Jehovah

As Christ is our King, so too are we His free will servants Joseph a son of Jehovah I have been a faithful servant of our Lord for the past forty years. He has led me to move from the farm to the city. It was there I learned natural medicine as well as to serve by doin volunteer work in a hospital. This was preparing me for the next stage of growth and service unto Him. The next phase was to live in a tent in the western provinces of Canada planting trees. It has here in His marvelous creation of nature that He taught me so much of Himself while serving others in camp as a first aid attendant. If anybody got sick or injured they always came to me. As well, I learned to be a big brother and care about their mental health and for most, it was the first time they were ever loved. This caring for others prepared me for the next step which was to be a teacher all over China. Here not only did my example guide many to our Heavenly King but also taught me how to deal with narcissist. This prepared me to come home to take care of a narcissistic mother while dealing with narcissist family members. It was in China that the Lord also guided me to become a Christian writer which has been faithfully done for the past ten years. I know not what will happen tomorrow but I know who holds tomorrow in His hands and it is Him I place my total confidence and trust in. Joseph a son of Jehovah

  1. At first when I read this post it sound a bit harsh but then I remember Jesus telling the disciples that when the people don’t receive the word they should shake the dust off their feet as a testimony against them. You are also right that we should give to the people to make them independent not dependent. That is so important. When we keep giving people food and money they will be dependent on us for more, but when we teach them to be resourceful and how to help themselves they will learn to support themselves.

    • Yes many of the teachings in the Bible seem harsh but are for our own good.

We need to teach others to be Christ dependent first, then to work in harmony with the Holy Spirit and depend upon Him not others.

  2. Very correct point.Hmmm.Very thoughtful
