. Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6:1 Holy Bible, New International Version
The only one a drunk will listen to is an ex-drunk but watch yourselves they do not get you to return to the bottle when you council them. .
That is why if you see a brother or sister indulging in a sin it is best to go with a least one of Christian who has been rescued from that sin. He or she will see the warning signs of temptation and encourage you to make a hasty retreat. Otherwise you may be dragged into that living hell with the sinning brother or sister.
When confronting a brother or sister in a sin please do not be judgmental with them. That will get them defensive and they will refuse to listen to you. Instead talk with them, guide them to the knowledge of what they are doing, that it is destructive and the proper course of action to take to free themselves of said sin. Again, that is why it is best to take a brother or sister with you who has walked that walk because when they speak they speak from experience. The sinning brother or sister will be more willing to listen to them.
That is why I believe so many councilors and psychiatrists fail: they go by theory instead of experience and their solution is to pump the patient full of drugs instead of dealing with the problem.
Prayer: Oh please bless me and all other Christian councilors my Beloved Jehovah-Hoshe’ah (The Lord Saves) with Your divine wisdom, grace, meekness and humbleness to guide Your lost little sheep back to You while protecting us from the power of the wicked destroyer satan. I sincerely request this in the name of He who defeated satan on the cross Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
