When they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:10 New King James Version Have you ever wondered why the wise men gave to Jesus’ family the gifts they gave?
Do not forget that Jesus’ parents were so poor they could not even afford at bus ticket to get across town in todays world.
An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” Matthew 2:13 New King James Version
Now if Jesus’ parents were so poor how could they afford to travel and live in Egypt during Herods blood thirst?
They could sell the gifts for a lot of money which would afford them the travel expenses and living expenses while in Egypt and their return to Israel. As well, the money would be used to buy a house and set up a business.
Now if you are in dire straits and someone gives you a gift you can sell to pay for needed expenses do not be ashamed to sell them.
On the other side of the coin if you give someone a gift and they sell it for necessary expenses do not be angry with them. Instead, be glad that the gift you so generously provided for them was enough to cover unexpected expenses.
The only thing that is certain in our daily circumstances is that they are always uncertain. Joseph- Anthony: Green
Notice I said for “necessary expenses”.
So, if you have no money to pay for unexpected medical expenses and do not have it or if you are suddenly without a job and cannot pay your expenses then it is okay to sell the gift to help yourself.
If you want to cash the gift in just to get a tattoo or the newest video game that is not necessary and is an insult, disrespectful and rude.
Prayer: Thank you Jehovah-Hoshe’ah (The Lord Saves) for blessing me with bringing those to me with gifts that were used in order to help me through disasters. May I always worship the true gift giver and not the gift. I praise You in the name of the only gift worthy of being worshipped Jesus Christ. Amen
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
