Gain a Heart at Peace

FORGIVE EACH OTHER

The best overall medicine.

“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones” (Proverbs 14:30 New International Version).

I recently read a report that says that doctors all over the world agree that anger, worry and bitterness is the cause of the majority of all illness.

Indeed I see people that are angry spiteful people who are very sick. When you try to explain they need to let go of past wrongs they stubbornly foolhardily refuse. They wickedly hang on to past wrongs like you would hang on to the railing on a boat during heavy weather at sea. As they get older and older there is less and less happiness in their lives, they become more and more isolated and sicker and sicker. Finally they end their days all alone in a room waiting to die. What a waste of life.

I have seen old people who are very happy and content. These are people who have gone through some very difficult times. How do they do it? They will gladly share the secret with you. It is giving it all to Jesus and being happy to have such a loving relationship with him.

If you want a great example listen to Corrie Ten Booms sermons. She watched her family die in the concentration camps and experienced the cruel treatment at the hands of the Nazi’s. She is a great example of the fulfillment of this verse.

Prayer: Please Jehovah Shalom (God of our peace) please always give all my anger, frustration, hurt and worry into Your wonderful healing hands. Then my beloved guide me where I can emulate the Mater Healer and help heal someone in this hurting world. I humbly beseech You in the name of the greatest Healer Jesus Christ. Amen.

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.

After faithfully serving the Lord in China for ten years as a teacher I have been called home to care for my aged mother who has numerous disabilities. As well I regularly do volunteer work visiting seniors in a seniors home. I love being in nature. I say the closer we get to nature the more we see Jehovah. We are blessed in this area with many amazing, easy to ride bicycle trails on old railroad lines that takes us all over Southern Ontario.

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more on this. Sometimes, I think God has commanded us to concentrate on the good things in order to avoid bitter, angry feelings because He knows how sick they can make us. And they are simply sinful anyway as you have mentioned. Good post! Steve
